Matter flows through an ecosystem in a different way than energy does. While matter gets recycled between and within ecosystems, energy flows through the organisms and out, dissipating into nothing. Though it's an interesting concept, matter, as it can never be created or destroyed-only ever changed.
Matter passes from one organism to the next through loops called "biogeochemical cycles". These cycles are actually powered by the one way flow of energy in the Tropical Grassland/Savanna biome.
